The number of candles is the persons age.蠟燭的數(shù)量是這個人的年齡 。 (1)the number of意為 “ 的數(shù)量 ” ， 后接名詞復(fù)數(shù) ， 作主語時謂語動詞 用單數(shù) 。 eg： The number of students in our school is quite large.我們學(xué)校的學(xué)生數(shù) 量相當(dāng)大 。 【 拓展 】 a number of意為 “ 許多 ”， 后跟復(fù)數(shù)名詞 ， 作主語時 ， 謂語 動詞用復(fù)數(shù) 。 eg： A numbe

2、r of students are playing basketball.許多學(xué)生在打籃球 。 (2)age為名詞 ， 意為 “ 年齡 ” ， 常用短語： at the age of“在 歲時 ” 。 eg： I can speak English at the age of four.我四歲時就能說英語 。 【 注意 】 Whats your age？ 和 How old are you？ 都可用來詢問年齡 。 The birthday person must make a wish and blow out the candles.過生日 的人要許個愿望并吹滅蠟燭 。 (1)wish此處用

3、作可數(shù)名詞 ， 意為 “ 心愿；愿望；祝愿 ” 。 make a wish意 為 “ 許個愿望 ” 。 eg： Best wishes to you for the new year！ 給你新年的良好祝愿 ！ (2)blow此處用作不及物動詞 ， 意為 “ 吹 ” ； blow out意為 “ 吹滅 ” 。 eg： The wind is blowing hard.風(fēng)很大 。 【 注意 】 blow out中 “ out”為副詞 ， 后接名詞作賓語時 ， 賓語置于 out前后 均可 ， 但接代詞作賓語時 ， 必須放在 blow與 out之間 。 eg： The candles were on

4、the birthday cake， and we blew them out just now. 蠟燭在生日蛋糕上 ， 我們剛剛把它們吹滅 。 If he or she blows out all the candles in one go， the wish will come true. 如果他 (她 )能一口氣吹滅蠟燭 ， 那么心愿將會實現(xiàn)。 (1)in one go意為“一口氣 ” ， 相當(dāng)于 at one go。 go在此處用作可數(shù)名詞 ， 常用于口語 ， 其前可加不定冠詞 a， have a go意為 “ 試一試 ” 。 eg： I can swim about 30 meter
