高二英語寒假作業(yè) 第十三天

第十三天一、美文晨讀Childishness MindI do not remember the first fairy tale I ever heard, but I do, however, remember the first one I saw: Disneys Cinderella. I was mesmerized, entranced. There were songs, laughs, talking animals, happy endingseverything to make a young girl happy. Then in middle school I was given The Grimm Brothers Fairy Tales. What a horrifying change from the 2D-Disney utopia! Feet got chopped off, eyes got pecked outit was terrifying, but it was also eye-opening. These stories werent just pretty and light-hearted, they had messages. This month well be focusing on the many different dimensions that fairytale can encompass, and the diverse effects it can have on a reader. Of course, this can be both negative and positive. In Educating Our New Cinderellas we learn a little about the adverse psychological effects of fairy tales, while How Fairy Tales Shape Our Life tells about the positive influence that these stories can give. However, its not always the same for everyone. One girl remembers, in Hansel and Gretel: A Tale on the Run, how a fairy tale shaped her lifeboth positively and negatively, but mostly humorously. Arguably, the reason that fairy tales may be able to affect us so differently could be that they themselves change so frequently. The Evolution of Riding Hood demonstrates how a fairy tale can evolve with culture, eventually becoming a reflection of both history and values. For most of us, the word “fairytale” holds a special meaning. Whether its a book, a movie, or an effect, is up to the individual. But understanding that there is more than just our one impression, our individual experience, is a lesson that fairytale is willing to offer all of usand we can all live happily ever after.二、詞匯訓(xùn)練1. Neither of them played a musical instrument, and they both sang, and there was lots of music at home. There was old piano at school and I could keep my hands off it! Finally an old teacher in the school recognized that I want to learn, and she gave me some lessons. When I was nine, I played in the end-of-term concert at school. At the age of thirteen, my music teacher said to me, “There is nothing more which I can teach myself. From then on, you need a world class teacher and a top-class piano.” So I went to a school for music student. Then at the age of twenty two I went to the Paris to study the piano.四、完形填空Ella Fant was a middle-aged lady who lived with her only son John in a small house. She 1John very much. She is very busy from morning till night. As a teacher, she works hard. 1 Both my brother and I love her dearly as she loves us. My mother has been teaching math at a middle school in my hometown. She goes to work early in the morning and does not return home until late in the afternoon. 2 She treats them with patience and teaches them well. For her excellent quality and very good teaching results, she has been elected as a model teacher several times. 3 Every day, when she comes back home from work, she sets about doing housework, sweeping the living room and bedrooms or cleaning the furniture, and putting everything in good order. She seems to be busy all the time. As she has been very busy working every day, she looks older than her age. But she looks as cheerful and happy as ever. Mother never buys expensive dresses for herself, but she often buys some inexpensive but high quality clothes for us. 4 She just eats a plain meal outside when she is too busy to cook herself. She lives a busy yet simple life, without any complaints. Often she says to us, “work while you work, and play while you play. That is the way to be happy and gay. If you do not work, you will become lazy and be of no use to society”. What a piece of good advice this is! 5 This advice of hers will always serve as a guide to my behavior. My mother is great indeed, and I always feel proud of her.A. She enjoys listening to classic music.B. As a mother, she takes good care of us and gives us every comfort.C. She loves her students and cares for them.D. She never goes to expensive restaurants to enjoy meals.E. My mother is hard-working and never wastes money.F.
