四川省達(dá)州市2014高考英語一輪 閱讀理解暑假訓(xùn)練題(6)

四川省達(dá)州市2014 高考英語閱讀理解一輪暑假訓(xùn)練(6)(答案)The British psychoanalyst John Bowlby maintains that separation from the parents during the sensitive “attachment” period from birth to three may scar a child's personality and predispose to emotional problems in later life. Some people have drawn the conclusion from Bowlby's work that children should not be subjected to day care before the age of three because of the parental separation it entails, and many people do believe this. But there are also arguments against such a strong conclusion. Firstly, anthropologists point out that the insulated love affair between children and parents found in modern societies does not usually exist in traditional societies. For example, we saw earlier that among the Ngoni the father and mother of a child did not rear their infant alonefar from it. Secondly, common sense tells us that day care would not so widespread today if parents, caretakers found children had problems with it. Statistical studies of this kind have not yet been carried out, and even if they were, the results would be certain to be complicated and controversial.Thirdly, in the last decade, there have been a number of careful American studies of children in day care, and they have reported that day care had a neutral or slightly positive effect on children's development. But tests that have had to be used to measure this development are not widely enough accepted to settle the issue. But Bowlby's analysis raises the possibility that early day care has delayed effects. The possibility that such care might lead to, say, more mental illness or crime 15 or 20 years later can only be explored by the use of statistics. Whatever the long-term effects, parents sometimes find the immediate effects difficult to deal with. Children under three are likely to protest at leaving their parents and show unhappiness. At the age of three or three and a half almost all children find the transition to nursery easy, and this is undoubtedly why more and more parents make use of child care at this time. The matter, then,is far from clear-cut,though experience and available evidence indicate that early care is reasonable for infants.11.This passage primarily argues that _.A infants under the age of three should not be sent to nursery schools.B whether children under the age of three should be sent to nursery schools.C there is not negative long-term effect on infants who are sent to school before they are three.D there is some negative effect on children when they are sent to school after the age of three.12.The phrase “predispose to” (Para. 1,line 2) most probably means _.A tend to suffer B get into C get into dispose to D lead to13.According to Bowlby's analysis,it is quite possible that _.A Children's personalities will be changed to some extent through separation from their parents.B children will be exposed to many negative effects from early day care later on.C early day care can delay the occurrence of mental illness in children. D some long-term effects can hardly be reduced from children's development.14.It is implied but not stated in the second paragraph that _.A traditional societies separate the child from the parent at an early age.B Children in modern societies cause more troubles than those in traditional societies.C A child did not live together with his parents among the Ngoni.D Children in some societies did not have emotional problems when separated from the parents.15.The writer concludes that _.A it is difficult to make clear what is the right age for nursery school.B It is not settled now whether early care is reasonable for children.C It is not beneficial for children to be sent to nursery school.D It is reasonable to subject a child above three to nursery school.參考答案 BBBCD*結(jié)束閱讀下列短文,從每題所給的四個選項(xiàng)(A、B、C和D)中,選出最佳選項(xiàng)。AIt was a hot summer day My dad and I were getting ready to go out for a ride on the boat with my friend Katie and the dog when the phone call came, the call that made that bright, beautiful day a cold, dark, gloomy oneI had just put on my suit, shorts, and tank top, and packed my bag with sunscreen and everything else I would need for the day I ran into my parents' room to find Dad When I saw him on the phone, he was crying I'd never seen my dad cry before My heart sank What possibly could have happened?"Max, I'm so sorry," I heard him say That's when it hit me I knew that Suzie had died Max has been my dad's best friend for years Suzie, his daughter, had a rare disease that mainly affected her body Her brain was OK She knew what was going on; she knew that she had problems and was different from other kids Once she told her dad that she wished she could die and be born in a different body Yet although she couldn't live a normal life ,she was still happyWhen Suzie and I were little, we spent quite a bit of time together As we grew up, we grew apart She lived in New York, and I lived in the Midwest When Suzie was ten she had to live in a hospital in Virginia About eight months before she died, Max gave us her number at the hospital and we talked at least twice a week until the end Suzie was always so excited to talk to us and wanted to know every detail about my life She wanted to know everything I did and every thing I ate In a way, she lived through me After we found out about her death, we made our plans to go to New York for the funeral When she was alive, I sent her a Beanie Baby and she sent one back to me I had bought her another one but never had the chance to send it to her, so I took it to put in her casket(棺材)Her funeral was very different from any funeral I'd ever been to After they lowered her casket, each one of us put a shovelful of dirt over her I remember crying so hard, I felt weak My cheeks burned from the tears My whole body was shaking as I picked up the shovel, but I'm glad I did itWhen Suzie and I first started calling one another, I thought it would be more of a burden on me, but I was completely wrong I learned so much from her She gave me more than I could ever give to her I will never forget her or the talks we had I now know that I must never take anything for granted especially my health and the gift of life1What does the underlined part “In a way, she lived through me” mean?ASuzie got to know what life outside hospital was like by sharing my experienceBSuzie was financially dependent of meCSuzie managed to pull through her illness with the help of my familyDSuzie was too weak to live her own life2Which of the following is TRUE according to the text?ASuzie was the only person helping the author with difficultiesBThe author feared that she might also get the same disease as SuzieCThe author benefited a lot from talking on the phone with SuzieDThe author didn't understand Suzie was her true friend until Suzie's death3What is the most important lesson the author learned from Suzie's death?ANever let go of a friend even if you are apartBBe thankful for what we have in our lifeCTalking with a friend can cure your illnessDWe can learn more from our friends than they do from us13、ACB *結(jié)束BScience Textbooks for Sale!Used, but in like-new condition with absolutely no writing.Principles of Virology (2 Volume Set)Third Edition (ISBN 978 1 55581 479 3 & 978-1-55581-480-9),Paperback- $110Introduction to Genetic AnalysisNinth Edition (ISBN978-0-7167-6887-6), Hard Cover - $110Please call646-470-1770or email for details. While the 21-year-old satellite broke apart as it re-entered Earths atmosphere, German aerospace officials estimated that up to 30 pieces totaling 1.9 tons tons could reach the surface of the planet. The satellite, which weighs 5,348 pounds, was launched into orbit in June 1990 to study X-ray radiation from stars and black holes. The satellite was originally designed for an 19-month mission, but it continued to work for far longer than its projected lifetimes. In 1998, some parts of the satellite failed and it retired in 1999. It was initially estimated that the German satellite could fall to Earth in November. Even in the last days, the satellite still circled the planet every 90 minutes, making it hard to predict where on Earth it would eventually come down. But increased solar activity caused the satellites orbit to decay(衰退)faster that originally expected. The old German satellite was the second one to fall uncontrolled from space within a 30-day period. On Sept. 24, a 6.5-ton American climate satellite fell into the Pacific Ocean. It was the largest satellite to fall uncontrolled from orbit since 1979.The German satellites fall from space, and the American satellite before it, cause the world to pay much attention to the growing problem of debris(碎片)in space. There are fears that they would hit a populated area and cause damage or kill people.8The report was most probably written in .ASeptemberBOctoberCNovemberDDecember 9Compared to the American climate satellite, the German satellite .Awas largerBwas heavierCwas smallerDwas faster10Which of the following may influence a satellites travel in space?ASolar activity.BEarths atmosphere.CClimate change on Earth.DRadiation from black holes.11What will probably be discussed in the paragraph that follows?APossibilities of controlling a satellites fall.BPossibilities of delaying a satellites fall.CWorries about uncontrolled satellites.DWorries about space rubbish.811、BCAA*結(jié)束
