1、專題限時訓練(二十七) [閱讀填空(一)] (限時:25分鐘)                  (一) There are two types of people in the world.Although they have equal degree of health and wealth and other comfort of life, one becomes happy while the other becomes unhappy. This difference comes from the different ways in which they conside

2、r things, persons, events, and the resulting effects upon their minds. People who are to be happy fix their attention on the convenience of things, the pleasant parts of a conversation, the well prepared dishes, for example. They enjoy all the cheerful things. Those who are to be unhappy think and

3、speak only of the opposite things. So, they're always dissatisfied. They cannot feel the pleasure of society; they hurt other people, and they make themselves unpopular everywhere. Their intention of criticizing and being disliked is perhaps taken up by imitation, but it gradually grows into a bad h

4、abit as time goes on. Though being unhappy is most probably an act of imagination, it has serious results in life, for it brings on deep sorrow and bad luck. The unhappy ones hurt many people; nobody will love them, and nobody will treat them with basic politeness and respect. When they need some a

5、dvantages in social position or fortune, no one will wish them success. In order to help the unhappy ones,it is strongly suggested that they should change their bad habits and be pleased with what is pleasing, without worrying needlessly about themselves and the others. If they do it, it will be go

6、od for both themselves and the others,and bright life will definitely smile at them some day. (二) The human heart is the strongest and the weakest organ of the body. It's the strongest because it performs the most vital function of providing oxygenated(含氧的)blood to all the organs for their sm

7、ooth functioning. On the other hand, it's the weakest organ because it can take pressure only in moderation, and excessive pressure may bring along a lot of health problems. Therefore, it's important to care for the heart and avoid certain things that damage your heart. However, there are certain h

8、abits that can cause ill effects to your heart without you realizing it. For example, we often tend to avoid eating fruits and vegetables in the necessary amounts. Research has proved that people taking more than five servings of fruits per day are at lower risk of a stroke(中風)than those not consumi

9、ng, or eating fruits in lesser quantities. Taking in too much salt is also a habit that can damage the heart. Although salt is an important part of a healthy diet, it's required in minimal amounts. When this amount is exceeded, it becomes poisonous for the body, and further increases the risk of he

10、art failure. In addition, though alcohol consumption in moderation can be advantageous for health, drinking too much is another bad habit that may result in high blood pressure and increase the risk of a stroke. Everyone goes through ups and downs in life and experiences depression. However, if you

11、 fail to handle your repeated depression, it affects the heart negatively. Moreover, depression develops certain unhealthy habits like smoking and lack of exercise in some people, which further leads to problems in the functioning of the heart. If you focus on these habits and try to get rid of the

12、m soon, it'll keep up the good health of your heart for a longer time. (三) Losing your best friend isn't easy. The one you shared your tears and laughs with is moving away, and you know life isn't going to be the same. At this time, what would you do? Well, firstly you should give yourself time

13、to accept the news. Though the news of your best friend moving away is bad, yet it's important to deal with the sadness. Just sit in your room without anyone with you, and let the news sink in. Anyway, you need to let the pain and disappointment go, and accept that you aren't going to see your best

14、friend like you used to in some time. Whatever time you've left with your best friend, try to use it to the fullest. Spend time together and do all the things you used to do together. If possible, plan an entire day, and try to do all the activities your best friend always wanted to do. Go out for

15、dinner at your friend's favourite restaurant, or you can cook his/her favourites at home. Capture these special moments on camera, make a beautiful photo album, and give it to your friend as a gift. Invite a group of close friends, and throw a farewell(告別) party for your best friend. Arrange for a

16、cake, and also buy a special farewell present. Let your friend know that you will miss him/her, and will always cherish the wonderful times that you've shared together. While it might be a little difficult, yet try to make new friends. You and your best friend did spend some great times together,

One handles the social aspect of the class—known as a social room parent, while the other handles everything related to studies—known as an academic room parent. Though the set of duties vary with every school and teacher,

23、some responsibilities are common. For example, you'll have to provide support to the teacher in many areas. You'll have to assist in planning events, like field trips, classroom parties, etc. You'll have to ask some people to donate some money to the class to arrange for gifts needed for various occ

24、asions like Christmas, Teachers' Day, etc. You'll be expected to undertake various duties in the classroom, like office work, helping the teacher out with her tasks, etc. To perform your duties well as a room parent, you're advised to check your voice mail and e-mail regularly. You can collect cont
