2008北京奧運英語主題對話 十幾年前，北京僅以2票這差惜敗于悉尼（sydney），一條重要的原因就是環(huán)保，悉尼正是打出“環(huán)保牌”才最終贏得了奧運會的主辦權(quán)。在2000年悉尼奧運會賽場上我們可以看到綠草茵茵。我們在惋惜自己失敗的同時，更應(yīng)該吸取悉尼成功的經(jīng)驗。環(huán)境保護不僅是我們申奧、舉辦奧運會的口號，更是造福于中國人民的千秋大業(yè)。綠色奧運（the Green Olympics）Dialogue: A: Do you know what the main feature the Sydney Olympics is, John? 你知道悉尼奧運會還有一個什么特點嗎？ B: Of course, I know. 我當(dāng)然知道。 A: What? 什么特點？ B: Environmental protection. 環(huán)保??！ A: Do you know when IOC put forward the issue of environmental protection? 你知道國際奧委會在哪一年提出環(huán)保課題的嗎？ B: Sorry, I have no idea about it. 抱歉，這我還真不知道。 A: Let me tell you. In 1991. At that time, Sydney put forward the slogan "environmental protection", thus, it won the bid. 讓我來告訴你，那是1991年。當(dāng)時，悉尼正是打出“環(huán)保牌”才贏得申辦權(quán)。 B: What a nice memory! The east and west culture is a comparatively separate value system of their own society, and each style of culture has advantages and dregs. So the two cultures should nourish and benefit each other. A: 這會議很有意義。東西方文化是適應(yīng)它們各自社會的相對獨立的價值體系，每一種文化都有它們自己的優(yōu)點和不足，因此，兩種文化應(yīng)相互充實。 B: Right. It seems to be quite important to Chinese culture. The two-thousand-year feudual rule made Chinese traditional culture self-closed and isolated, and its so short of democracy and open, which is the chief essence of the west culture. Through the meeting, we want to make it the beginning that Chinese culture fully absorb the essence of the west culture. The 2008 Olympics is a desirable chance. It was first raised at the celebration congress of the 20th anniversary restoration of the Olympics movement in Paris .
