夾具設計是機械制造廠里的一種工藝裝備，有機床夾具，焊接夾具，裝配夾具，檢驗夾具等，一般的機床夾具是作為機床的輔助機構設計的，而組合機床夾具是作為機床的主要組成部分，其設計工作是整個組合機床設計的重要部分之一。組合機床夾具應便于實現定位和夾壓的自動化，并有動作完成的檢查信號。夾具體在機床上的安裝都是通過夾具體上的安裝基面與機床上的相應表面的接觸或配合實現的。當夾具體在機床工作臺上安裝時，夾具的重心應盡量低，重心越高則支承面應力越大，夾具底面四邊應凸出，使其接觸良好，或底部設置四個支腳。當夾具體在機床主軸上安裝時，夾具安裝基面與主軸相應表面應有足夠的配合精度，并保證安裝穩(wěn)定可靠。
