Module 9 People and places Unit 2 They’re waiting for buses or trains. 教學目標 【知識與技能】 1. 掌握下列單詞和短語:drive, off, get off, leave, restaurant, moment, place, things, most, still, star, run, study 2. 掌握句型:1) They’re waiting for buses or trains. 2) At this moment, in different places of the world people are doing different things. 3) They’re working. 4) People aren’t having dinner. 5) Some people are still working and some are going home from work. 6) They are eating hamburgers or hot dogs and drinking coffee or cola. 7) Some people are seeing friends, calling home or shopping. 【情感、態(tài)度與價值觀】 了解時區(qū)和時間,培養(yǎng)學生珍惜時間、尊重不同地區(qū)人們生活習慣的良好品格。 教學重難點 【教學重點】 How to describe and ask what the people are doing at the moment. Grammar: The Present Continuous Tense. 【教學難點】 Grammar: The Present Continuous Tense. 教學過程 Step 1 Warming-up 1. Review the text of Unit 1. 2. Show some pictures, ask the students to look at the pictures, then talk something about the pictures. 3. Introduce the new words. 4. Read the new words. Step 2 Language practice 1. Look at the pictures in Activity 1. 2. Read the words in the box in Activity 1. 3. Ask the students to match the words and expressions from the box with the pictures 4. Say what the people are doing.. Step 3 Read the news report and match the paragraphs with the pictures in Activity 1. 1. Read the news report. 2. Ask the students to match the paragraphs with the pictures in Activity 1. 3. Check with a partner. 4. Call back the answers from the whole class. Step 4 Reading. 1. Play the recording. 2. Ask the students to read through the passage. 3. Choose the correct answer in Activity 3. 4. Check with a partner. 5. Call back the answers from the whole class. Keys: 1. b 2. b 3. b 4. a 5. b 6. Tall the students the time in different places of the world 全世界共分24個時區(qū),每15度為一個時區(qū),英國的格林威治為零時區(qū),北京為東8區(qū)。推算方法:東加西減。 3. Ask and answer: What time is it in different places of the world? 4. Work in pairs. Step 6 Writing Find out what time it is now in London, Moscow, New York AND Los Angeles. Write sentences about what people are doing or aren’t doing. Join sentences with and or so. In London, it’s… and people are leaving…. In Beijing, it’s… so people aren’t… Step 7 Reading 1. Read the postcard 2. Check (√) the true sentences. 3. Call back the answers from the whole class. I’m standing on the Great Wall of China and writing this postcard to you. We’re on a school trip and we’re having a good time. At this moment, Wang Hui is taking lots of pictures and Lingling is buying some presents and postcards. We’re enjoying the school trip a lot. See you soon!
